The show which is meant for a common Kannadiga is one for the biggest reality shows in Kannada television offering the prize money of Rs 1 crore. The format and the rules for the edition of Kannadada Kotyadhipati will be same as the first edition of KBC.
The show will be anchored by the actor Puneet Rajkumar (Son of Dr.RajKumar).
Making his debut as an anchor for the first time on television Puneet Rajkumar says, “I am excited about being the anchor of this show which will give me an opportunity to interact closely with the common people. The format of the show is unique as this gives the common people an opportunity to use their knowledge and change their lives.”

The registration lines to participate in Kannadada Kotyadhipati will open from at 8 pm from December 27. Puneet Rajkumar, the anchor of the show will ask a question every night at 8 pm on Suvarna Channel.
The call for entries to participate in the show will start from December 27 on Suvarna Channel.
The Format:
Kannadada Kotyadipathi is a Kannada primetime quiz and human drama show.
Each player will be asked fifteen questions, the prizes starting at Rs. 1000 and leading up to Rs. 1 crore. The first five questions are considered to be relatively easy. The player has 30 seconds per question. The second five are relatively harder. The time limit for these are 45 seconds per question. The final five are considered to be the most difficult hard and become increasingly more so. These have no timer.
Ten short-listed contestants play a ‘Fastest Finger First’ question which requires them to place four events, names or similar details in the correct order. The contestant who gives the correct answer first plays the main game first. There can be, and generally is, more than one player per programme.
The show’s host asks each contestant a number of multiple-choice questions. Of the four options only one is correct. Players answer correctly to win an amount of money. They are then shown the next question and four answers. Successive questions are worth a greater sum of money. In most cases this is double the previous sum. Players who answer question numbers five and ten correctly find themselves in a situation where their winnings are ‘safe.’ This means they will not lose their winnings under any circumstances. This allows the players to hazard a guess for question six and question eleven.
Players answering a question incorrectly are eliminated from the game and their winnings go back to the previous ‘safe’ amount. If the contestant was in the process of answering questions one to five, the safe amount would be zero; for those answering questions six to ten, the safe amount will be Rs. 10,000, and for questions eleven to fifteen, it will be Rs. 3,20,000.
Players can decide to stop at any time, after seeing the next question, and take the winnings they have accumulated up to that point. For assistance, the contestant can use one, two or all three ‘lifelines’ at any time during the game.
Contestants can use a lifeline when they are undecided which answer is correct. A contestant can use each lifeline only once. He can also use all lifelines on one question.

The lifelines are:
Fifty-Fifty
When the player chooses this lifeline, the host tells the computer to randomly eliminate two of the ‘wrong’ answers. This will leave one right answer and one randomly selected wrong answer.
Audience Poll
The host repeats the question to the studio audience. When requested, the audience must now press a button in front of them within ten seconds to indicate which option they think is correct answer. The computer then displays the results as a percentage to help the player make a choice.
Phone A Friend
With this lifeline, the player may call one of up to three pre-arranged friends and ask for help. The host calls the player’s friend and introduces him/her to the viewers. The question is only read out by the contestant to the phone friend once the host allows him or her to. The phone friend has thirty seconds to answer.
More about the show:
Players must choose answers wisely or else they risk losing the opportunity to win Rs. 1 crore. In a typical episode, only two or three contestants reach the Hot Seat and play the Rs. 1 crore question.
When a player gets eliminated, another contestant comes in who goes through the same process of reaching the hot seat. If the running time of the programme expires while a contestant is still playing they are invited to return on the next programme to continue.
Once a player has been in the hot seat, he or she can never return to it in the “normal” show program.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR KOTYADHIPATI :
With effect from 2000 hrs on December 27, 2011, viewers will be asked one question per day for 7 days in total on television. Each question will be tailed with 4 possible options. Viewers will be requested to respond to the questions, should they want to register and take part in the show “Kannadada Kotyadipathi”. The questions in PHASE 1 of the show will be asked on the following days:

REGISTRATION THROUGH “SMS”
STEP 1
Contestants can register his/her number to participate in the competition via SMS by texting:
“KK”"YOUR ANSWER OPTION” [A/B/C/D] to 57827
STEP 2
On receiving the SMS in the prescribed format, contestant will be sent another text message thanking him/her for completing STEP 1 of the registration process and will now be asked to enter:
“AGE”"GENDER”" PINCODE”
STEP 3
On receiving the SMS in the prescribed format, contestant is sent another text message “Thank you for registering for NVOK, if shortlisted you will receive a call; Kindly answer the phone yourself”. And this completes the registration process through the SMS for that particular question.
NOTE:
In case of error in SMS format, the response message will be sent “Invalid entry. Please re submit your entry in the prescribed format”

STEP 2
The Registrant will be taken through the IVR menu where he/she will be asked to enter gender (1 for male and 2 for female)
STEP 3
The Registrant will then be asked to enter age in completed years (for e.g. if a person is 25 years and 11 months old, they will have to enter 25).
STEP 4
The Registrant will be asked to enter his/ her area pin code.
The call will end with a thank you note / play back option. Further, the THANK YOU message will inform Registrants, if they are selected for the next stage then will receive a call. Kindly answer the phone yourself.
NOTE:
All responses on IVR will be in TAMIL only
If any of the information requested during the IVR is not provided by the Registrant(s) as per the instructions of IVR within four (4) seconds then the instructions will be repeated once again, after which also if the answer is not received for further four (4) seconds then a termination message will be played and the call will end.
If answer is not received in the correct format, or is not from amongst the prescribed answer options, the question will be repeated once again; if an invalid response is received a second time, then a call termination message will be played and the call will end.
